This page was a bit of a struggle to clean up… as you can see from my original drawing, I just kinda had a concept, not really a full drawing. I spent the better part of the weekend and today working out how to draw things in perspective and from the angle I wanted. I found myself looking up lots and lots of reference. I felt a bit frustrated yesterday like I just couldn’t draw! It’s like I hit this wall every Inktober where I find where I’m not skilled at doing a thing, and some Inktobers I can’t get past it, just can’t wrap my head around it. But I managed to figure it out this time, so I’m pretty happy about that. I know there are still things that should probably be fixed, but as Jake Parker says, “finished not perfect”. It’s about learning and growing, not about being perfect. I’m still figuring out what to make black and what to keep white, it’s all an experiment.

Hopefully the next page won’t give me as many problems. Overall, I’m happy with how this turned out…
