Yesterday, while I was setting up my tripod, Mama Owl flew away!!!!
What?!!
I took a quick picture to investigate the shadows… I could *just* make out what I hoped was the owlets in the shadows… I’ve worked my post-processing magic so that you can see what’s going on in there too…

I quickly hit record and waited… and waited… and waited…
During this time my battery died and I had to quickly replace it and hit record again…
25 minutes later…
Finally, Mama Owl returned!

I watched the owl cave for about an hour and a half total yesterday… I edited down the video to 14 min, which is still quite long… but I feel like the owlets will move to a tree soon (check out this article from the Audubon Society to learn more about Great Horned Owls), so I’m going to have this up for a bit. It’s 2GB in size so I will have to edit it down eventually. But for now, enjoy. Also feel free to watch it at 2x speed if you don’t have 14 minutes to spare.
EDIT:(25-04-22) I took down the video to save space.
Eventually, the owlets got behind Mama and they all fell asleep…

I stayed an extra half hour because you may have noticed that Mama did not bring back food and there is no food in the cave. I did not see the Male Owl on my watch, so this morning I took a quick peek to make sure they were still in there.

Whew, so far so good.
I glanced over again when I took Duke for his afternoon walk… still looked like I could just make out a shadow in there (without my camera). I plan to go out again soon to see what other delights I can bring you.
Until next time…
