Owl Watch: Hopping Practice…

Hey guys, yesterday I came prepared for the owl photoshoot. It was great lighting, so of course, Mama Owl and the Owlets hid and slept in the side of the cave for an hour, waiting for the light to dim.

I was thinking about packing up and going home when I heard the pulling of weeds and some crunching nearby. It was probably one of the gophers munching on the weeds. I took my camera off the tripod to see if I could get a photo, but the gopher was still underground.

Then my husband said quietly, “um, honey, she’s on the edge…”

So I quickly put my camera back on the tripod and focused…

EDIT:(25-04-22) I took down the video to save space.

Apparently yesterday was practice hopping day. Mama Owl stood sentry on the edge while the Owlets practiced hopping. Then she went back in, fed them, and went to sleep.

It is interesting, everyday is a little different and I’m glad I’m getting to see into her world.

Until next time…
