Owl Watch: 80 minutes…

Hey guys… sorry for the slight absence… I was having a bit of technical, time, and space issues. My blog was at full capacity again… I only had 1.2GB available and the video I was working on was 1.16GB… and that just won’t do. So I’ve been taking down last years’ videos and replacing them with frame captures from those videos. It takes time. I’m not done yet, but I was able to free up some space so that I should be able to write and publish this post.

Ok… so on March 16, Mama Owl left again, spoiler alert, she didn’t return for 80 minutes. It was so long that I started to doubt that there was anything in the cave, even though I *saw* the owlets go to the side of the cave. They were just doing such a good job of hiding.

It was so long that I started to get bored and took some photos of the clouds and little bird that was perched nearby.

I was able to take 2 hours of video footage and shrink it down to 7 minutes… I also learned how to add a timestamp to the video so that you can see when things were happening as the video continues forward through time…

EDIT:(25-04-22) I took down the video to save space.

Once Mama Owl got back she fed the owlets, I was losing light, so I packed up and went home.

I have some frame captures and stills that I took, as well. I put them in a little slideshow, but instead of having it run automatically, you’ll have to click through it. I found it very distracting to have the photos flipping through while watching the video above…

I have video and photos from March 17th that I still need to go through and edit. I didn’t go out to check on the owls tonight (March 18th), I just didn’t have the time and also it was forecast to rain during the time I tend to have the photoshoot. I hope they are still there, heh. I’ll check on them in the morning.

Until next time…
