Hey guys! My muse has been enjoying learning. I purchased an illustration class with Simone Grünewald… back in February but was not able to get to it during Birbuary… I finished all the videos last night, now it’s time to apply the knowledge.

During one of the videos Simone talked about composition… but what really resonated with me was the depth she achieved with adding more to the scene and changing the values. I personally struggle with what to do with the background in my drawings, so I decided to draw my version of her example…

Another thing that Simone does that I find interesting is that she does color studies. She uses MapCrunch to randomly choose a streetview and then paints the colors she sees. I think it’s a really great exercise, not only in color studies, but also in landscapes. So I gave it a try last night…

It was a fun exercise, I hope to do more of them in the future.
