Bio Comic WIP (finished pg1) & some Draw-Alongs…

Hey, guys… as most of you are aware, I tend to throw myself into art when I need comfort. It’s been a bit since my last show and tell. Let’s see… looks like I haven’t shown anything I’ve done for the month of September…

I attended a couple of live online feedback sessions, and a few draw-alongs. I also did some practice on my own. Today I finished inking and coloring the first page of my 2-page autobiographical comic that I’ve been working on for what seems like months.

I attended the September Creative Club Town Hall (we have one monthly) and we had a draw together where the prompt was ‘big bird on a small tree’. It was fun to see what everyone came up with. I also attended a live online class where Nico Ng showed us how make a card (it’s free for a limited time if you would like to see it). Nathan Brown had a live online interactive class where we learned how to get inky (in Procreate) and we drew a raven together.

On my own, I’ve been working thru a cute & easy animals workbook, I drew these cute chickens and this toucan.

I didn’t realize it until I put this collage together that apparently I’m on a theme this month… birds.

Speaking of birds… I had a cockatiel in my twenties and she made it into my autobiographical comic. I wasn’t going to finish the comic because I figured it would be too hard, then I realized that my comics are moments in time and that I should finish it. I think my fur babies would like for me to finish it. My friends at Creative Club have encouraged me to finish it as well. So this week I’ve been working on it again and I finished inking and coloring page 1 today, here’s the WIP…

I have a bit more work to do on page 2… but hopefully it’ll go a bit faster now that I’ve worked through some of the decisions that were slowing me down. I was trying to decide if I should change the final panel, but have decided to leave it as is and continue working on the comic as a moment in time kind of thing.

Well it’s getting late, I should start getting ready for bed…

Until next time…

  1. Monica,

I love this dedication to your babies.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had an opportunity to meet Duke and Penny, and I know they were loved so much. They both had the best soft ears.

Please know you are in my prayers and know that you were a great Mommy.

If you need a shoulder to cry on, please know that I am here for you.

Our pets are our children, and I know your pain.

    Love you,

    Shari

    • Shari,
Thank you so much… this made me cry… but I know you understand. 🥰 Also thanks for the encouragement to continue this comic, I think it needs to be completed.

Kind thoughts and comments are always welcome...
