I don’t have as much to show this week as I thought I might. My muse had a crazy idea of taking one of my owl photos and turning it into a “i need coffee” mug… Unfortunately, the number of pixels left after you cut out all the extraneous info from the owl shots isn’t big enough to print. So I had the grand idea that I would draw it. I spent quite a bit of time researching other mug ideas that are selling. I also looked at what other owl + coffee art is out there… I think I ended up just making myself feel like I’m not a good enough artist, there is such good art out there. Ugh. Need to tell that voice to shush. I have several of my art pieces on the wall to remind myself of the art I am proud of, to tell that voice to be quiet, their opinion doesn’t help.
Anyway… I guess today is more of a behind the scenes thing… I’m struggling with ‘what do I really want to say visually’. I got a big kick out of the dirty looks the owl was giving me when I was photographing her, but I also want my drawing to be cute. I’m still very much in the indecision stage…

It also occurred to me that writing something on this mug would take some lettering knowledge, simply using a premade font won’t do it justice. I have several workbooks on lettering, so I decided to start working thru Jimbo Bernaus’s Shoutbam Slayout Lettering Masterclass. I’ve been playing around with the word coffee…

In other news…
Zazzle is being fiddly, I’ve been trying to group a couple of items so that it show that it has a few color options. I got one item to acknowledge that there are 6 colors, but the other one only sees 4. I might have to send something to Zazzle-help to see what I’m doing wrong…

.
That’s all I have for show ‘n tell this week. Just plugging away at trying to continue my art education and make more original art this year while exploring selling my work.
Until next time…
