20-hour Art Weekend…

I mentioned in a previous post that I was going to attend a 20-hour, 9 instructor, 2-day Procreate Workshop. I’m happy to report that I was able to attend all the classes and draw-along! AND even though I’m incredibly tired, I managed to not get concrud — woohoo!

I realize that I shouldn’t get sick during an event that is just me sitting in front of my computer for 20 hours… but I managed to get sick last time, so I was worried. I also had really crappy insomnia in the week leading up to the event so I was going into it already tired. Anyway, enough of that … let’s get to the art!

Each class was 1:45-2 hours long, with approximately 10-15 min between instructors depending upon if the instructor talked right up to the next hour. So snacks and bathroom breaks were at a run between classes. The day started at 6am and ended around 4pm, 5 classes total each day.

Saturday

On Saturday, starting at 6am my time, this was the lineup:

  1. Pattern Play – Peggy Dean
  2. Cute Kawaii Characters – Laura Jane
  3. Creating Custom Procreate Brushes – Jennifer Nichols
  4. Cohesive Spot Illustrations – Doriana
  5. Animated Sticker Lettering – Dawn Nicole

Sunday

On Sunday, again starting at 6am my time, this was the line up:

  1. Painting Captivating Portraits – Riso Chan
  2. Botanical Letters – Jimbo Bernaus
  3. Painterly Portraits – Gabrielle Brickey
  4. Illustrating Human Characters – The Artmother
  5. Cutie Lil Animals w Bonus Pattern Play – Peggy Dean

Overall, I learned a ton and had lots of fun. Saturday’s classes were more in my wheelhouse and so I was able to keep up and learned lots. Sunday’s classes started with stuff I don’t typically do, so I struggled a bit, but kept at it… the last two classes were more my comfort zone and so I was able to keep up a bit better. I was completely wiped out by 4pm and looked forward to dinner (soup & salad) – which did make me feel better and I got a bit more energy after eating. I’ll have to keep that in mind next time to put a salad in my day as a snack to give me a bit more energy, while the PBJ was delicious, quick, & easy… it didn’t give me the energy the salad did. Things to remember for next time.

I have unlimited access to these classes to rewatch, so I’ll probably go back and try to pick up the info I didn’t get the first time.

I also worked on an animation just prior to the weekend. I *mostly* finished it Friday night, but yesterday I decided to add some music to it… I’ll post it next time.

Until next time…
