Hey All!

Yesterday I went to the grocery store, but when I got home I was wiped out! I took a nearly 3 hour nap, and then I chilled the rest of the day, never really getting my brain back. I did a little bit of drawing and a little reading, but mostly just vegged out.

This morning I had a migraine, so I’ve been trying to ease back into doing all the dailies.

I did apparently get into the zone today working on the squirrel… I wanted to take the very worried and very detailed squirrel and simplify it so that I can make another pattern to go with the Happy Acorn pattern… I think I finally got it…

I made you a gif again to show my iterative process… I really liked the big tail, but the giant head isn’t really the same style as the pattern… so I turned the previous squirrel into a silhouette and then worked from there. I had a bit of trouble getting the head right, and then finally got something I liked. Then the eyes were driving me crazy… and then they clicked. Try, try, again, as they say.

Next I’m going to try to figure out how to take these motifs and create an ogee pattern.
