Hey All!

Wow, I really need some sleep. We stayed up way too late, because we are insane. But Jake Rudh was doing a such a good set that it was hard to walk away. It wasn’t the first time we’ve stayed up too late, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. But it was exceptionally silly, since we really really have to get up early this week.

And to make matters worse, we realized this morning, in our sleepy haze, that 4:45am just isn’t enough time to get ready to leave by 5:15am. Ugh… so we’ll be getting up at 4am tomorrow for a dry run… which means bedtime is in less than 2 hours… so I’d better get to today’s post.

I spent the day trying out some ideas. First I searched for ogee patterns, and grabbed a few that caught my eye. Then I outlined the design so that I could see what it was like without color and made as simple as possible…

Then, on brand, I went in an entirely different direction. I decided to try out radial symmetry… it’s all just preliminary sketches at this point, and it might be a bit too busy… but it’s a start.

In Reaching my Goals News… I finished two books I’ve been reading. One was Show Your Work by Austin Kleon. The other was a short story that I started over a year ago and never found the time to get back to, because reasons… it was Dreams & Sighs by Seanan McGuire. But now I can start the next novel in the October Daye series, so yay! It feels good to make time to read again.
