Hey All!
The past couple of days I have had very low energy… sadly I had to choose which dailies I could do because I couldn’t do all of them. Last night I didn’t even read before bed, which I’ve been doing nightly since I started this dailies experiment.
Anyway, I have a little bit to show you.
I’ve been occasionally playing with ink and water while following along in the book 31 Days of Baby Boos and Spooky Dudes by Karen Campbell…. but I’ve been struggling to not have the ink get too inky…
Thursday
Thursday night I kept redoing the witch getting increasingly better and also changing the paper I was using, but still not really liking what I’d done…

.
It also seemed to reinforce that I wasn’t in the mood to draw, but I made myself draw because I wanted to post something… which is exactly not the way I want to approach art and had a little nod of ‘yep, don’t do that’.
Friday
Friday, I thought perhaps I just needed some practice… so I drew some basic shapes and tried to vary the amount of ink that got wet so that I might be able to control it better…

.
Then I had the idea that perhaps my ink is too water-soluable and that’s not what the author intended. So I grabbed a different ink that tends to bleed if I don’t let it dry overnight to see if that was more controllable…

.
And that seemed to be more inline with what I was seeing in the book. Now I know. 🙂
Saturday
This morning we had a Live Online Sketchbook Bootcamp Workshop where we sketched in ink (I used a micron) and painted some light watercolor washes. I found that I really need to practice ‘less is more’. But I’m not sure I’ve really delved into this kind of art before, so I am happy with this attempt…

.
So that’s all I have for now. See you Monday?
Until next time…
