More Old Blue (WIP)…

Hey All!

I made a concerted effort to really get out today. We walked a new route today that took us to a nearby grocery store, it was 5.6 km round trip… oof. I’m tired. heh. But I did find some energy to work on Old Blue a bit more.

To me, it seemed like Winston was looking at something… I debated a butterfly, or other flying insect… but decided to do another of the Whimsical Watercolor lessons instead. I let the Universe decide by rolling a 5-sided die (5 books), and a 17-sided die (~17 tutorials per book)… and landed on Old Blue the cutest little donkey!

Yesterday I posted the first draft of the sketch… today I worked to refine it.

My superpower is to take something easy and make it as difficult as possible. 😆 I took what should have been an easy tutorial and figured out how to make it more brain twisting. I decided to mirror-flip the image so that the donkey was looking at Winston, the basset hound. But instead of only looking at my flipped image, I kept looking at the book and I was also looking at images of real donkeys… you know making it more difficult for the fun of it. Actually, I was trying to make it my own, but occasionally my brain would get confused… so if you look closely at the gif I made, the feet move because I had it wrong at first, like I was drawing an Escher-donkey.

Anywho… I was finally happy with the sketch and inked it…

Tomorrow I have 2 Live Online classes, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get to start painting it until Sunday. Hopefully I’ll have lots to show on Monday. See you then?

Until next time…
