I was going to finish inking and painting the Willow luge illustration today, but my muse had other ideas it seems.
I got a reminder from my calendar that Feb.1 is Hourly Comics Day… and normally the comic artist draws about their day for every hour they are awake. I thought since my day is kinda boring visually, that maybe I’d do Willow’s day instead.
So that got me thinking about how Willow would perceive the day… since she is a plant alien, she probably wouldn’t care about the actual time, but rather where the sun was in the sky. So I was going to do dawn/twilight, sunrise, solar noon, sunset, dusk/twilight….
But then… I found out that there are certain flowers that bloom at different times of the day. And after I was looking into that, I found that there are some gardeners who plant a floral clock with flowers that open at exact times of day….
Needless to say hours and hours went by.
I thought, I really should draw something today, and I didn’t really know where I was going with all this research. So I started drawing some of the flowers that bloomed at a specific times of day… and before I knew it, it was time to go have dinner.
So… here’s what I have for today’s show-n-tell… my notes and a few flower drawings…

.
I’m sure my brain will catalogue and organize these ideas and I’ll hopefully come up with some cool ideas to implement for Hourly Comics Day. Oh and thru my research today, I also found out that the date has been moved to Feb.8, so as to no longer conflict with the first day of Black History Month. That also means that I’ll have more time to come up with ideas.
That’s all I have for today, see you tomorrow?
Until next time…
