I had an idea a few weeks ago and I wanted to test it out. When I take a still photo with the Nikon CoolPix P900 I get an image that is 4608x3456px… BUT when I grab a frame capture from the video taken with the same camera, that image is 1920x1080px (because video is 1080p). Which means that if I grab a frame from the video, it isn’t big enough to even be a 4×6 print. Because the minimum resolution for a 4×6 print would be 1800×1200…. soooo
I had an idea to create a composite of one of my stills with one of the frame captures so that I can create some 4×6 postcards.
I’ve done a couple of tests and so far it’s going pretty good, I thought I’d share.

It’s pretty cool… because now I can not only create some 4×6 postcards and greeting cards, but with the extra background I can create larger prints as well as have more options for the crop.
It takes time and I have to finagle the color a bit to make both images similar. Also, I have to remember to take a couple of stills before I push the video record button so that I have a background to use at the same angle of the scene as the video, but so far so good.
Until next time…
