Hey all! The last few days I’ve been playing around with a repeating pattern. I think my muse was inspired because I’ll be attending a Live Online class tomorrow where I’ll be learning about more ways to make a repeating pattern.

So I really liked this drawing/painting I did during Workshop Week…

And I wanted to see if I could make it a repeating pattern. It went thru several iterations, and while I like it and wanted to send it to my shops, I think I will use it as a learning piece. As I feel that it still has an obvious demarcation throughout it, something that will probably come with more practice.

Anyway… here are the iterations…

At first I thought it would be cool to make it with diamond shapes, but then I wanted to try to have a pattern that reached across the gaps… but some of the florals still give it that demarcation that I was trying to cover up… I like it, but I don’t think it quite got where I wanted it to go. My favorite parts are the snails and the ladybug…

It was a fun project to work on and now I really want to keep incorporating snails and ladybugs and other critters into my work more often.
