Zentangle + Repeating Pattern = ? …

Hey All!

I’m making an executive decision… I’m going to stop pursuing the Ogee repeat pattern. I just don’t think it’s for me. I try and try and I don’t like anything I create when I start with that shape. It’s weird… it seems to need to have a symmetry and I’m all about chaos and asymmetry… so I’m calling it. I’m going to move on.

Whew… glad I got that off my chest. Ok… so after several, and I mean several, false starts yesterday… I abandoned the Ogee shape and decided to go with the Diamond shape. Which oddly since it’s just a square on it’s side was what I was use to working with anyway.

What am I even talking about? Oh… sorry… heh…. I thought I’d try to see if I could make a repeating pattern from a Zentangle that I drew while letting my muse be in control. And guess what?! I did it! Wahoo!

That said, I started with a 3″ (900px) square, so it’s too small to really do anything with… but that’s kind of the point… it’s for me… I can let go of the invisible audience for a moment and just play. But, of course, I did have to print it out just to see if it could be made into wrapping paper or something… just to see. But the main thing is I had fun creating it, and now I know I can do it, if I want to go that route.

Let me show you…

I printed it out onto an 8.5×11″ sheet of semi-gloss paper (micron pen for scale)…

.

I mean, it’s very intricate and the pattern can’t be made any bigger without pixelization… but it’s what I expected from a 3″ square repeating pattern. So now I know. And now you know too.

That’s all I have for today… see you tomorrow?

Until next time…
