I had a great weekend… and I have a few things to show you. It was good to take a break this weekend and let my mind come up with fun stuff.

A-Purr-Ril

So I am feeling a bit behind on the A-Purr-Ril challenge… and I was going to combine three prompts, and while I was trying to come up with something clever for Ink Bottle, Blanket & Pillow… I found myself overwhelmed and in my own head.

So I took a step back and decided that perhaps my creative cup needed to be refilled. So I started flipping thru a couple of art books that had cats in it. Then I decided to just draw a cat… I flipped thru Karen Campbell’s Wacky Whiskers book and liked 4 cats… then I looked at those cats again and chose Stanley…

While I was drawing Stanley, it occurred to me that the rectangle shape was like an ink bottle. Then I thought, ‘what if I used the shape of ink bottles as the ‘blob’ for some cats?’ So I looked up some ink bottle shapes that I liked and drew them, then I removed the interior lines to make them ‘blobs’…

Then I started drawing cats… before I knew it I had 8 cute cats! I made a little gif of my process…

It was a really fun way to get out of my artistic block and even tho you can’t see the ink bottle, it was the spark that I needed to create this drawing…

Peggy Dean Workshop

On Saturday, I attended a live online workshop… it was a fun and playful class. We drew in our sketchbooks and used acrylic markers. The theme was Purrcats In Space 🤣
