Whimsical Watercolors…

Hey All!

I’ve been having fun drawing and painting some whimsical characters from Karen Campbell’s Whimsical Watercolor books. I have six of these books. So I’ve been rolling a 6-sided die to determine which book I will be looking at, then I roll another multi-sided die to determine which character from that book (each book has 13-18 characters per book).

.

This week I drew and painted 5 whimsical drawings; a bird, a cat, a beetle, a butterfly, and a group of houses squished together. Let’s get to them…

Squawking Steven

Squawking Steven looked like a fun angry bird to draw. I’ll admit that once I got to the carefree way of drawing the spiky feathers I felt a bit out of my element. I started out a bit too light, and then got too dark too quickly, but I think I was able to draw out some character and colors in the end. It’s all an experiment of trial and error, that’s how you learn…

Besties Nesties

Next up, I had another page with bleedthru like I had in my last post, so I thought I’d draw one of the houses on this page… I liked the squished up green and purple one.

Scraggly Simon

I rolled the die and got this cutie… but again, I struggled a bit with the carefree way of making it look scraggly… so I’m definitely learning what I need to practice more…

Bewildered Beetle Bob

Once again, I rolled some dice and got this cute beetle. I feel like I did much better on this one… practice makes makes progress, right?…

Butterfly

Next up… I got an email letting me know that Karen had put up a new youtube and she was going to draw and paint this cutie butterfly… so naturally, I wanted to draw along…

.

That’s all I have for this week. See you next time?

Until next time…
