Pushing it Further…

Hey All!

I’m still playing around with ink and watercolor and having a great time. The last few days I’ve been pushing it a bit further… just when I feel like I’m almost finished, I kept going by trying out new ideas. It’s that point where you want to do more, but are worried that if you do, you’ll ‘ruin’ it. I’m trying to get past that fear of ruining it and reminding myself that it’s just paper, and that you won’t know unless you try. I’m still working on several of Karen Campbell’s classes and books… here are my projects from the last few days…

Haunted Houses – Day 7 (31 Days of Baby Boos and Spooky Dudes Book)

For these houses I wanted to add a bit more color to the windows and perhaps add some shading. I used watercolors after the fountain pen + waterbrush blending had dried. The first one I added a bit of purple watercolor, but it was a bit too much and I had to add several layers of blue watercolor to tone it down a bit… the second one I chose a blue watercolor closer to my fountain pen ink color and I added a touch of yellow to the windows and pumpkins. It was a great experiment and I’m glad I pushed past the doubt…

Halloween Ghost (Awesome Art, School Mixed Media Society – VOD)

This one was a VOD from Karen’s Awesome Art School Mixed Media Society… she did hers with acrylic paints. I really like watercolor, so I did mine with watercolors… I really liked how it turned out, but I also love playing with pushing the shadows more… and once I looked at the painting greyscaled… I knew it really could benefit from some more darks…
